Pirate Face Sculpt

A quick little Z-brush sculpt. I rarely post these little speed sculpts, but I was tired of looking at Pettyland cards. I built this in zbrush from a simple sphere using the fantastic Dynamesh function to keep the topology good.

Fascist Pig

The ubiquitous cop mustache is paired with a Robocop-esque frame in this charming Pettyland card.

The Minstrel Tate

Another Pettyland card. Apologies to yet another high school friend of mine for a demeaning illustration. But I think it would be pretty cool to have a nose flute.

Little Red Riding House

I told myself that I'd get one more painting done before the year ends and I did this little painting yesterday. It is gouache on watercolor paper. About 12"x15" or so. Also, I was as sick as a dog while painting it.

I took some process photo shots with my iPhone while I was painting it and put a little collage below. You can see that I started out with a sketch, but the details changed quite a bit as a painted. When I'm not doing commercial work, I like to avoid doing too much planning.

F-Bear

Ahh...young love. But a very useful card in Pettyland if you want to lower your Sanity score. Or avoid Pam.

Three Headed Politician

There's a lot of these lately. Hope no one is getting sick of them yet.

Curt!

Curt is an old friend of mine from high school who used to do these twisted drawings of elongated heads. Curt was also prone to girlfriend issues. Here is his Companion card in Pettyland. The three heads on the sides are based on his drawing style.

Nuclear War!

Been busy lately, but managed to squeeze out another Pettyland card. What could be more '80's than a Nuclear War event card? Like the rest, this little ditty was created in Photoshop.

Incredible Luck!

Another Pettyland card. This time featuring a character known as Dots, who used to be a major character in my art circa 1990 but that I haven't drawn in about 10 years. Like the other illustrations, this one was done in Photoshop.

Pixie Dolls Done!

I've finished painting the dolls that I've been working on for the upcoming Dig for Fire, art inspired by the Pixies show.There are five dolls in total. All were created using the same process, as detailed in the previous post. Here are a few images. Some of the dolls have small details that are hard to photograph -- the second largest doll, for example, actually has two faces, on opposite sides, that blend together as the image wraps around.
