Pink Skull with Mohawk

Another skull experiment, this time using Medium (VR Sculpting  tool), Zbrush and Photoshop. I designed it to be a companion piece to my "Green 80's skull" (somewhere down below).

I did this sculpt in VR using Oculus Medium. Its really more of a sketch than a sculpt, about an hour of work!

Ormagöden headz

Some recent high-rez sculpts of Ormagöden's face -- the chrome god from BRUTAL LEGEND. This is NOT a hint that there will be a sequel, just me playing with some bits from my past. These were sculpted in Zbrush and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 2 and Toolbag 3 beta.

Skullz and Marmoset3

Just a quick rendering/lighting experiment using the Beta of Marmoset 3 and the "Binary Star" sculpt I did in Oculus Medium. Lots of fun.

Binary Star VR Video

Quick video showing what the skulls look like in VR (or closer to it anyway!).

Binary Star

This was sculpted in VR using Oculus Medium. I also did a little bit of color correction/cropping in Photoshop.

Day of the Devs 2016!

Every year, I do some new images to promote Double Fine and iam8bit's indie game festival, Day of the Devs. This year I did an arcade cabinet that features the logo from previous years in the monitor. Maya + Photoshop.

Skull 4

Another skull experiment. This one started in VR with TiltBrush, then went into Marmoset Toolbag for lighting/materials/rendering, then everything was vomited into Photoshop for painting/comping/color grading.

Green 80's Skull

Another skull! I used similar processes as the Exploding Skull. Which is to say, a bunch of  Zbrush, After Effects, and Photoshop.

Exploding Skull

Random piece of exploding skull art for a nice Sunday afternoon. Used a pretty random process with a strange mashup with of 2D and 3D tools.

VR Sculpting with Oculus Medium

I've been messing around with sculpting in Medium, a VR sculpting tool from Oculus. Its not out yet, but I've been lucky enough to test it out and its pretty amazing. Haven't had a ton of time yet on it yet, but here are some images from a lil' demon head I sculpted/painted in it.

A few random Brutal Legend doodles

While cleaning off an old hard drive, I found a few old roughs from during Brutal Legend's development! From 2007-early 2008!

Mutant Patrick Nagel

You guys remember Patrick Nagel? His posters of pale women with dark hair, rendered in a flat style were all of the 80's. Not sure why, but yesterday at lunch I did a mutant Nagel doodle. Almost as if his models were mutated by radiation and then dressed up in 80's sensibilities.

HEADLANDER

We just shipped Headlander, which I've been working on for about the last 18 months. Below is a collection of sketches, concepts and marketing images I created for the game. I tried to leave out anything too spoilery. I'll post in-game work later on!

Just a quick digital self portrait from memory, using techniques and colors I've never used before.

Diamond Pals!

This is a concept from Broken Age, Act 2. This is an early idea for what would later become the Diamond Droogs. Since Alex's ship is an earlier model than Shay's ship, it was based around a DIAMOND pattern (four sides), instead of Shay's ship which is based around a HEXAGONAL pattern (six sides...see? Way more advanced). The Diamond Pals were left to their own for a hundred years or so while Alex was in stasis, so the idea was that they became scavengers, somewhat feral and formed their own little society.
